About Connect Sport

Mental health in sports is often overlooked, misunderstood, or ignored. Athletes are too often left to struggle in silence. We’re changing that.

At Connect Sport, we embed mental health literacy into the fabric of youth sport. Through evidence-based education, advocacy, and community support, we equip coaches, parents, and athletes with the tools to understand, talk about, and take action on mental well-being.

Unlike traditional awareness campaigns, we go beyond conversation. Our structured, one-hour course delivers immediate, practical, and research-backed training made specifically for the sports world. Because if we care about the future of sport, youth development, and community well-being, we must care about mental health literacy.

This isn’t just about addressing individual struggles. It’s about creating a culture that lifts everyone up, both in and out of the game.

Our Vision and Mission

We’re building a future where mental health is championed in every corner of the sports community. A future where athletes, coaches, and parents are empowered to foster resilience, connection, and lifelong well-being.

Our Story

On July 20, 2021, time stood still. That day marked the beginning of Connect Sport. In the wake of a tragic loss, our founder set out to create lasting change. What started with grief became a mission—to prevent other families and communities from facing the same silence and struggle.

Our Charitable Purpose

As a registered charity, our mission is to build access, awareness, and community around mental well-being in youth sport. We offer education, remove barriers to participation, and foster connection so that every young person feels supported both in and out of the game.

Our Team

Meet the people behind the mission. Our team brings together educators, advocates, and community builders who are passionate about changing the game for mental health in sport.

What People Think About Us

Testimonials from coaches, organizations and parents about Connect Sport and what we do.

Parent, LLoydminster
Real life feel to mental health.
This program acts as a short but important reminder of key indicators of what a mental health situation looks like. This program brought a real life feel to mental health and the stigmas around it. It made you look at the questions from another perspective. We all feel or deal with mental health in some way in our lives, and this program reminds us of our role as supporter and patient of mental health and how we can get help before it negatively affects our lives or someone else’s around us.

Coach, Calgary Northstars
Connect Sport was an enlightening experience.
This platform offered valuable tools that better equipped my staff to better support the mental health challenges of our players.

Rohit Sharma

Coach
Arming our coaching staffs with better tools to support mental health literacy has been a great investment into their development to become better coaches far more valuable than any X’s and O’s training would have. We will continue to work directly with Connect Sport as more support is needed in this area in sport.

Part of a much needed shift.
Connect Sport has been a huge part of a much needed shift in the mental health support of our athletes during the 2022/23 season. We currently host 12 minor hockey programs within CNHA with 220 players and 50 coaches. Following our Connect Sport Coaches on boarding I received calls from a large number of our coaching staffs thanking us for this resource. I have also had a member for each of our staff outline at least one instance where Connect Sport training has helped with better Connect and support an athlete on their team this season.
